SLAMpeg 1373: Lorelei Lee vs Rhia O'Reilly

Two of our alliteratively named athletes face off in this best of five submissions contest. There is a little bit of pre-match taunting, mostly playing off the relative intelligence of Americans vs the Irish and the aesthetic strengths of their respective pairs of socks – it so happens that they’re wrestling with their boots off.

The actual tapouts seem almost beside the point as the ladies attempt to a) show off their considerable mat wrestling skills and b) exert as much pain on the opponent as possible. bodyscissors and Headscissors are clamped on, leglocks knot limbs into pretzels and some almost MMA-like reversals are implemented.

There’s no referee so the ladies aren’t above some unsightly tactics, particularly a good bit of hairpulling. But for every bit of punishment dished out by one athlete, the other suffers equally – if you see Lorelei lifting Rhia off the mat in a Pendulum and bouncing her head off the turnbuckle, you will see Rhia bend her in half with a vicious Boston Crab.

By the time one backbreaking submission elicits a reluctant tap from one lady, each of them has been put thoroughly through the wringer. Victory is academic.
